How to read a model code
The model code tells you the series, the supply and the size of the compressor.
- QR / QL
- Series. QR models are rated for medium and high temperature duties, QL models for low temperature duties.
- 3
- Three-phase supply. Codes without a 3, such as QR-44, are single-phase.
- 74
- Size. It follows the displacement in cc, for example 74.25 cc on the QR3-74.

Installation and operation limits from the datasheets
Summarised from the manufacturer datasheets. The datasheet of your model always takes priority.
- Never pull a vacuum with the compressor, and start it only after refrigerant is charged.
- Do not charge refrigerant from the suction or discharge line close to the compressor. Use a port far from it, on the accumulator or receiver connection pipe.
- Do not run the compressor in vacuum or without refrigerant, or in reverse for long periods.
- Use approved refrigerants only, and stay within the running envelope with enough suction superheat.
- Complete assembly and brazing within 15 minutes of removing the suction and discharge plugs.
- Avoid frequent starts. The suggested minimum run time is 10 minutes, with at least 3 minutes between stop and start.
- A 45 W crankcase heater is recommended, powered on 12 hours before the first start or a restart after a long stop.
- Fit protection for pressure, temperature, oil return, overcurrent and phase faults.
- Do not lay the compressor down or turn it upside down during transport, storage or installation, or incline it more than 45° in transport or storage. While running, it must not tilt more than 15°.
Common questions about Zingfa compressors
Is Zingfa the same as Xingfa?
Yes. Zingfa and Xingfa are two names used for these compressors, which are made by Zhejiang Ankang Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd. You may also see them listed as Ankang.

Which refrigerants do Zingfa QR and QL compressors run on?
Every model on this site can run on R448A, R449A and R452A as well as R404A. Send us your gas and duty point and we will confirm the selection.
Can these compressors run on 230 V or 400 V?
Single-phase models are specified for 220 to 240 V at 50 Hz and three-phase models for 380 to 400 V at 50 Hz. The datasheets also list 60 Hz values.
